The 2011-2012 season marked the second year where the newly renovated fields have been in use by Norton Youth Soccer. As of April 1, 2012, NYS has invested $84,192 into the field complex. A detailed financial breakdown is provided below.
Recent work has focused on seeding and irrigating Field 8 as well as bringing online an additional well that is needed to not only irrigate Field 8, but also the remaining fields. Field 8 is located on the far right side of the complex and will be large enough for an 11v11 field or several smaller fields. It is our hope that this field will be available for use starting Fall 2012.
Unfortunately, the cost of the new well and renovation of Field 8 have all but depleted the Field Restoration account. As many of you have seen, there are still many fields in dire need. Our plan is to irrigate Field 9 next. This is the field in the very rear, right corner of the complex. The final phase of the project would be to renovate the middle fields, Fields 5 and 6. The cost to renovate Fields 5, 6, and 9 will be significant. Our goal is to renovate all of the fields by 2014. It's also important to note that as fields are restored, our maintenance costs also increase simply because there is more grass to mow and take care of.
Your continued donations and support are critical to fully renovating the fields by 2014. Those families who have donated during the current soccer season have been recognized on the Friends of NYS webpage. As always, we welcome and encourage the support and participation of our more than 500 families. If you have any ideas or suggestions or wish to be involved, please contact NYS at firstname.lastname@example.org
