Norton Youth Soccer is a non-profit, member-run organization promoting soccer in the
Town of Norton, Massachusetts
. As a soccer club, Norton Youth Soccer is recognized by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). The mission of Norton Youth Soccer is to promote athletic excellence,
, fair play, individual effort and teamwork among the children of Norton, within the context of recreational and competitive soccer. Norton Youth Soccer tries to promote these values in an atmosphere that is fun, educational, and competitive. We hope that our players will learn both how to develop their individual skills and how to work cooperatively as team members.
NYS offers a number of programs: Fall Recreational, Fall Travel, Winter Indoor Travel, U06-U08 Indoor Soccer Program, and Spring Travel. More info on these programs is below.
NYS also runs a summer clinic. Our
Federal Tax ID number is 04-3039061. If you plan to report our summer camp as a childcare expense for your taxes, please keep a copy of your payment to serve as a receipt.
Fall Recreational Season (Ages and team structures may change before the first sign up.)
This is our primary season, with over 600 players from U6 through U15. The structure is coed for U15 (includes U13/U14/U15 players). The U06-U12 teams are broken out into boys and girls divisions in single age groups for U06, U07 and U8 and in double age groups for U9/U10 and U11/U12. Player registrations are done online starting in April; team rosters are created in August. Coaches then contact team members and practices start one week before the beginning of school. Games take place on Saturdays; Opening Day is the first Saturday after school starts. The season normally runs 9 consecutive weekends, ending in early November.
U06-U08 Indoor Soccer Program
These one-hour games run for 6 weeks on Sundays starting in November (after the Fall rec season closes). There is 15 minutes of practice and a 40-minute scrimmage. This is a recreational division available to any U06 to U08 player not on a competitive team.
Winter Indoor Travel
This is a competitive environment, with players selected for teams through tryouts or other means. Indoor teams play from November to April based on schedules prepared by the facility. Expenses are based on team fees, equipment needs, uniform purchase and possibly insurance. The facility cost per player is determined by dividing the total team cost by the number of players. Each team member must also purchase a uniform. Facilities generally run the season with either two sessions of 10 games or three sessions of seven games.
NYS is affiliated with the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL), which covers all of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket as well as towns from Norton to Fall River and New Bedford. This is a competitive travel league, with teams from U8 through U16. Some age groups have Division 1 and Division 2 teams. Teams are selected through tryouts or other means and placement is not guaranteed. Cost is determined by SCSL team registration fees, referee payments, uniform and equipment needs. Participation fees are reviewed each year to cover NYS costs. The eight game season starts in early April and runs through early June. Games are played on Saturday and Sunday.
